Qacchua

STEP BY STEP

FEROCIOUSLY

We’ve all heard that story before. I had heard it as a young child growing up in India. The story of the “kharghosh” and the “qacchua”. The speedy Kharghosh challenged the slow Qacchua to a race. “Qacchua does not stand a chance”, they said.

But on the day of the race, Kharghosh fell asleep, and it was Qacchua that won.

Step by Step. Ferociously.

Inside us all reside that Kharghosh and that Qacchua.

Kharghosh is impulsive and instinctive, while Qacchua is steady and deliberate. Kharghosh is in a rush to achieve and move on to the next best thing. Qacchua takes the time to think, to get the job done well, and then works on it some more. The loudmouth Kharghosh drowns out the deliberate Qacchua. It is tempting to be a Kharghosh. It is boring to be a Qacchua.

In the real world, things work differently.

No matter how you’ve heard the story, the impulsive Kharghosh burns out quickly, the reflective Qacchua always wins in the end.

STEP BY STEP. FEROCIOUSLY.

If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
